Deadly fire in Yuen Long

A fire at Yuen Long's YOHO Town killed a person early this morning. A couple in their 50s were found unconscious and taken to hospital. The man died after resuscitation attempts; the woman is in critical condition.

The fire took place at 8 Yueng Lung Street, Tower 7 of YOHO Town. The Fire Services Department said they received the report at around 6 a.m., arrived in 3 minutes, and took 20 minutes to extinguish the fire. A couple who had fallen unconscious were rescued from a bedroom. The 56-year-old man had no breathing or pulse at the scene and was pronounced dead after resuscitation in hospital. The woman was transferred to Eastern Hospital. The fire started in the living room; earlier, it was stated that a household electrical appliance was initially suspected to be involved. About 430 residents were evacuated in the incident.
