Six Flags has announced temporarily closing nine roller coasters across six amusement parks in the US out of an abundance of caution after a man died from falling from a ride in Georgia. Several others were injured.
A park spokesperson states its team was fully co-ordinating with local authorities on an investigation into the incident.
The fatal incident occurred at Six Flags Over Georgia in Cobb County, about 24 kilometres northwest of Atlanta.
The park and police officers assigned there responded to the scene immediately.
The roller coaster involved was not identified by authorities and Six Flags, but eyewitnesses captured the evacution of passengers from the Goliath coaster Monday afternoon, aerial video from local TV stations showed.
Six Flags says it is providing support to the guests and team members impacted.
The incident comes nearly two weeks after the theme park company announced the permanent closure of its famous X2 roller coaster at Six Flags Mountain in Southern California as lawsuits allege it caused major brain injuries.
