Some Wang Fuk Court residents began applications for the government cash handout tonight.

Displaced Wang Fuk Court residents filled out forms tonight to apply for the 10,000-dollar handout.

Some say it can serve as an emergency fund to buy jackets -- as the weather has got cooler.

Another resident wishes they can be informed exactly when the handout will be given.

The government has identified around 1,000 youth dorms and hotel rooms for displaced residents to stay over the coming one to two weeks. Some of them have been taken to the hotels tonight.

One resident hopes authorities can arrange accommodation for a longer period given the exceptional circumstances. The Immigration Department also headed to various shelters tonight for registration work of Wang Fuk Court residents to facilitate applications for replacements of their passports and ID cards.
