US First Lady meets Russian, Ukraine officials after localised truce

US First Lady Melania Trump brought together Russian and Ukrainian officials in the White House to mark a ceasefire she helped broker last month in Oleshky, a frontline town in Ukraine's Kherson region.

Melania said she had learned about the situation in Oleshky in September and immediately deputised her adviser Marc Beckman to work with Ukrainian and Russian officials to push for the ceasefire.

She added Russia and Ukraine agreed to work with her to establish a ceasefire in Oleshky and signed the ceasefire agreement on Oct 23.
