Fire authorities seize illegal petrol from station in Yuen Long

The Fire Services Department busted an illegal refueling station in Yuen Long yesterday, seizing 516 liters of petrol.

The illegal station, discovered by fire authorities in Wing Ning Tsuen, Yuen Long, was built from a prefabricated structure and contained multiple plastic containers filled with petrol.

The seized illegal petrol is enough to fill the fuel tanks of at least eight medium-to-large private cars. A man was intercepted during the operation; suspected of violating the Dangerous Goods Ordinance among other offenses, he will be prosecuted.

The Fire Services Department reminds the public that anyone operating an illegal refueling station faces a maximum penalty of a HK$100,000 fine and six months' imprisonment.
