Suspect who allegedly shot Russian general Valdimir Alekseyev is detained in UAE

Russia's Investigative Committee said Sunday that the man suspected of shooting a deputy chief of Russia's military intelligence was detained in the United Arab Emitrates. He is to be handed over to Russia.

Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said a Russian citizen was detained in the UAE on suspicion of carrying out the shooting.

General Valdimir Alekseyev was hospitalised after being shot several times in Moscow.

The attack followed the assassinations fo senior military officers that Russia had blamed on Ukraine.
