The Saudi Super Cup semi-final was staged at the Hong Kong Stadium tonight with Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, making his Hong Kong debut.

Ronaldo's team Al-Nassr edged Al-Ittihad 2:1.

The semi-final match kicked off at 8 p.m. with Hong Kong Stadium filled by some 30,000 spectators.

Al-Ittihad was led by Ronaldo's former Real Madrid teammate
French striker Karim Benzema.

Around 1.5 hours after the match started, an assist from Ronaldo led to the second goal of Al Nassr, with cheers from crowds bringing the roof off.

The Hong Kong Stadium will host another match on Wednesday between two other Saudi sides: Al-Qadsiah and Al-Ahli starting also at 8 p.m.

With Al Ittihad bowing out,
Al Nassr and the winning team in the match tomorrow will compete in Saudi Super Cup final on August 23rd.

WILLIAM: "I think it was such a good match. The first half, it's so fun to watch. I can't understand why Ronaldo missed the free kick goal. But it was still really good. It's easy to tell who is on the pitch because he is better than almost everyone else."
