Air Canada announced it is gradually restarting operations with the first flights scheduled for Tuesday evening there, tomorrow morning here.

The carrier and its low-cost affiliate Air Canada Rouge completed mediation with its flight attendants' union.

President and CEO of Air Canada Michael Rousseau said that full flight restoration may take a week or more.

During this process, some flights will be cancelled over the next seven to ten days until the schedule is stabilised, and customers can choose between a refund, travel credit, or rebooking on another airline.

The company's cabin crews carried out their first strike in 40 years following failed contract talks in which they sought pay for work done on the ground, such as boarding passengers.

While details of the negotiations were not immediately released, the union declared on social media the strike was over, and that a "tentative agreement" has been reached.
