Israel saw one of its largest protests since the invasion of Gaza.
Tens of thousands rallied against the government after the decision to approve a military takeover of Gaza City.
China joined much of Europe in criticism of the plan with a U.N. Security Council emergency meeting planned for Sunday.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the shared rage and frustration of millions of Israelis could yet force the government to change course.
A known critic of current leader Benjamin Netanyahu speaking before what is thought to be the largest demonstration since the war started nearly two years ago.
This was a mass march against Israel's military expansion and desire to occupy Gaza City.
Protesters chanting that the politicians who approved that policy decision are the "death cabinet,"shouting that the government is betraying its people..
Thousands walking in unison towards the Defence Ministry beating the drum of resistance.
Demonstrator Tal Nahum explained why he attended the rally.
"We didn't agree with all the decisions that our government is doing, secondly, we blame our government for all the disasters that occurred in October 2023.," Nahum sad as he marched with others.
Police told the crowds hey have authorisation to move the crowds.
Mounted officers move in on horse back to disperse protesters.
Nearby, family and friends of hostages alive or those who died in Gaza at their regular event to keep their loved ones in everyone's mind.
They are worried about their fate as Israel readies itself to take further control of Gaza.
Lishan Miran-Lavi is the wife of hostage Omri Miran who is believed to still be alive.
Lishan spoke of her fears; "Now, the government has decided to expand the war and push deeper into Gaza, but my husband is still there. Every invasion, every bullet, every airstrike could cost him his life I'm terrified, I'm angry, I won't stay silent."
