The Nakagin Capsule Tower in Tokyo once hosted 140 tiny pod homes before it was demolished in 2022.
Now one of those pods is on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The stacks of boxes with their distinctive circular windows were a local landmark in the Ginza District in Tokyo.
Built in 1972, each pod was a "micro-dwelling", a tiny home just about big enough for one person.
Of the 140 single-occupancy capsules in the building, 14 have been salvaged, including the one on display in New York.
Inside, the 100 square feet pod has been restored to its original condition, complete with compact bathroom and electronics that would have been cutting edge in their day.
The pods were intended for people to be able to spend the night in Tokyo, especially if they were workers, instead of commuting to the suburbs in the evening.
