The Education Bureau has expanded the National Security Education Curriculum Framework to cover 21 additional subjects across primary and secondary schools.

It has also released a video about the extradition bill for schools to use as teaching material.

In May, the Education Bureau unveiled the first phase of the National Security Education Curriculum Framework. It has since issued a new circular to schools, updating the frameworks for 21 primary and secondary school subjects.

In the framework for the primary schools' humanities subject, students in lower primary are expected to understand that the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison is responsible for Hong Kong's defence, and to recognise the roles of law enforcement agencies such as the Hong Kong Police Force.

Progressing to upper primary schools, students are expected to conduct research and project-based learning on key historical figures, such as Yue Fei, a patriotic general of the Southern Song Dynasty, and Yuan Longping, the father of modern hybrid rice -- to appreciate their patriotism.

They will also be taught to identify online pitfalls such as pornography content and sex chats, and to discern false or misleading information from the media.

For primary science classes, teachers are advised to guide students in discussions on commonly used innovative technologies, such as e-payment and new energy vehicles to understand the application of national tech developments.

As for Chinese History at the secondary level, the framework encourages teachers to use maps of Beijing to help junior secondary students learn about the Forbidden City.

In senior secondary biology, schools may arrange visits to panda habitats in Sichuan so as to allow students to learn about the country's ecological restoration efforts.

The Education Bureau has also launched a dedicated webpage with a 37-minute long video, titled "The Truth about the Hong Kong Extraditional Bill Incident" which can be used as a reference resource for national security education in schools.
