Singer Tommy Yuen failed to appear in the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts yesterday for charges of shoplifting at a supermarket in To Kwa Wan.

After that, he posted on social networking sites, saying that he has left the city. He said that he had been followed by police officers many times.

Hong Kong police issued a strong condemnation over Yuen's act, saying he has openly challenged the law. The force said Yuen failed to face his actions honestly, confused right and wrong, smeared and slandered the police, and tried to incite the public to hate the SAR government. The police said they would pursue anyone who attempts to evade criminal responsibility till the very end.
