A man and a woman were each sentenced to six months in jail after they were found guilty of conspiring to help the ex-husband of murdered socialite Abby Choi in his attempted escape.

The case was heard at the Kowloon City Court.

41-year-old Lam Shun and 29-year-old Irene Pun were earlier remanded in custody.

The incident took place in February 2023, when Kwong Kong-chi, the ex-husband of Abby Choi, attempted to flee from Tung Chung via speedboat after her murder.

The pair were arrested during the subsequent month on suspicion of assisting Kwong's failed escape.

Magistrate Chan Chee-fai said during sentencing that communication records show that the pair must have known the route of the escape vessel, and stressed imprisonment is necessary.
