Some of the more than 8,000 households at Queen's Hill Estate in Fanling have raised concerns over suspected contamination in their tap water, reporting the presence of black sediment.
The Water Supplies Department says tests show that water is safe to drink.
Multiple residents recently shared these photos on social media showing dark specks in their drinking water and filters turning black within days. Some said the substance first appeared on Thursday night.
The Water Supplies Department said that, as a precaution, government pipelines in the area were cleaned and inspected and no irregularities were found. The estate property management also flushed the internal pumping system.
Queen's Hill Estate, opened in 2021, has faced similar incidents in the past.
In 2022, residents reported yellowish water with visible impurities.
