Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the city's first Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Month kicked off this weekend with a two-day carnival at the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Centre.
Its opening ceremony featured performances of nanyin, an ancient form of Chinese music, and a traditional qilin dance.
The event aims to promote the preservation and appreciation of intangible heritage.
Throughout June, more than 100 heritage-themed programmes will be staged across the city. Over 50 heritage bearers will take part with some designated at the national level.
Authorities expect more than 100,000 visitors to attend.
