Lula pays tribute to Uruguayan "Pepe" during China trip

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took time out from his state visit to China to pay tribute to former Uruguayan President Jose Mujica who has died at the age of 89.
Lula spoke about Mujica, who ruled Uruguay from 2010 to 2015. An ex-guerilla, an icon of the left, Lula said during an event in Beijing most leaders are incomparable to "Pepe".
The last time I saw him he told me "I'm on way out",Lula said of Mujica, "he said it with all the calmnessof how he told me that he governed Uruguay."
This came after China and Brazil pledged to jointly defend a multipolar world amid Trump's tariff blitzand agreed to try to resolve the Ukraine crisis together.
