The three-day long weekend holiday will wrap up on Monday. The Transport Department expects more residents to return to the city via various land ports.
Authorities expect the Hong Kong-bound travel rush will lead to a higher demand in public transport -- with longer waiting times.
It has instructed public transport operators to step up services to meet the passengers' needs.
It's anticipating cross-border private cars travelling between Hong Kong and the mainland or Macao via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to increase significantly.
With that, the Transport Department urges travellers to plan in advance and take transport during non-peak hours.
