Hong Kong welcomes 265,000 tourists as Golden Week kicks off

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law said more than 265,000 people have flocked to the city, marking a 27 percent increase year-on-year.
Secretary Law said among the inbound visitors, 225,000 were mainlanders, while 45,000 were tourists from overseas.
The city also welcomed 240 tour groups since Thursday, three quarters stayed overnight.
Speaking of travellers who are not in tour groups and returned the same-day, Law said many changed their shopping patterns, which is a world-wide phenomenon, the commercial sector therefore should step up efforts to attract more tourists.
