《唱歌講英文》：Don't Give Up on Us

To give up是指放棄，歌名Don't Give Up on Us是指不要放棄，我們還有希望，為甚麼不這樣說don't give us up？

因為這樣說，to give someone or something up，意思是交出或者放棄。比如說， 他太太放棄事業照顧家庭，his wife gave up her career to look after the family，或者說通緝犯向警方自首，the wanted criminal gave himself up to the police。

另外一句put by，意思是儲存。例如這樣說I put by some money every month, so I can buy my own flat next year，我每月都會存錢，希望明年可以買樓。

最後還有這個複合動詞come through，意思是從困難或者逆境中走出來。我們正在面對疫情，但相信到最後都能夠度過 (We're still in the midst of a pandemic, but in the end I'm sure we'll come through.)
