Some MTR service temporarily suspended after object obstructed rail track

An object was obstructing the tracks near Wan Chai MTR station, causing a temporary suspension of service for about an hour between Sheung Wan and Quarry Bay stations this morning.

After the incident, a large number of MTR engineering staff went to the Wan Chai Station platform to assess the damage to the affected section of track.

Police officers also arrived at the scene.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 AM. The MTR said there were objects obstructing the tracks near Wan Chai Station, and service between Sheung Wan Station and Quarry Bay Station would be suspended. Afterwards, some sections maintained a frequency of one train every ten minutes.

Service gradually returned to normal around 7:30 AM. As the incident occurred during rush hour, it took take some time for the crowds to dissipate. Many citizens said they left home earlier.
