Hong Kong's long-waited Central Kowloon Bypass is set to open on December 21, sources say.

Three new bus routes will run on the Bypass.

Spanning 4.7 kilometers long, the Central Kowloon Bypass connects Yau Ma Tei and Kowloon Bay, and is designed to reduce traffic on main roads in Kowloon.

Authorities say the link would shorten travelling time from half an hour to only five minutes.

The toll will be set at 8 dollars for all vehicles.

The Kowloon Motor Bus will operate two new bus routes, including one linking Tsuen Wan West and Yau Tong, and another from Tuen Mun and Kwun Tong.

Meanwhile, Citybus will launch a route connecting Lohas Park and the airport.
