Midterm elections in Tuesday brought a drove of firsts to America, as voters resoundingly rebuke US President Donald Trump, as democrats flip key battleground and, in some instances, like Kansas, gain control of states that had histroically been Republican leaning.
The country sees its first Black female governor, Keisha Lance Bottoms of Georgia; the first Native American female governor, Deb Haaland of New Mexico; the first Native female senator, Minnesota's Peggy Flanagan; and the first openly gay male US senator, Chris Pappas of New Hampshire.
By early Wednesday, the first Muslim US senator, Michigan's Abdul el Sayed was also added to the list of barrier-breaking milestones.
The astonishing blue wave also means the United States will likely have its first-ever Black speaker of the House, Hakeem Jeffries.
