More than two months after the devastating fire at Wang Fuk Court, residents are still waiting for clearer plans on how they will rebuild their homes.

Last month, the government distributed a questionnaire to collect residents' preliminary inclinations with possible options including redevelopment on the original site, relocation within the same district, or flat-for-flat exchange.

It is understood that one of the options under consideration is for the government to commission the Housing Authority to acquire ownership of the affected flats and assist residents in selecting replacement units.

However, no final decision has been made so far.

In response to enquiries, the government says more than 90 percent of owners had returned the questionnaire.

The working group on emergency accommodation arrangements is expediting consolidation and analysis of responses.

Some Wang Fuk Court residents who are staying in transitional housing have said that they hope to return to their homes as soon as possible.
