The government has sent questionnaires to owners of Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po to collect their preliminary opinions on long-term resettlement, including redevelopment on the original site or government purchase of their property rights.

More than a month after the deadly Wang Fuk Court fire, over 4,000 residents are temporarily residing in hotels or youth hostels.

A government spokesperson said they are aware of the different suggestions from owners and the community regarding long-term resettlement, including the hope that the government will purchase their property rights or give Wang Fuk Court owners priority in purchasing Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) units.

Some owners hope for resettlement within the same district, while others accept resettlement in other districts, and some request redevelopment on the original site.

Starting today, the authorities are sending questionnaires to owners through the "one household, one social worker" program to collect their opinions.

This includes whether homeowners will choose to return their units to the government for purchase. Units without a land premium will be priced at HK$6,000 per square foot, while units with a land premium will be priced at HK$8,000 per square foot.

Homeowners can also choose to purchase new Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) units in other areas.
