Commissioner of Police Joe Chow said, following forensic examination, the DNA of another person was found in the remains of a victim in the Wang Fuk Court fire, bringing the death toll to 161.

The DNA from the other person confirmed they are a couple. It cannot be ruled out that DNA from other deceased individuals may be found later, and the death toll may rise further, Chow said.

Concerning the Casualty Inquiry Centre, the remaining 6 cases mentioned earlier have all been confirmed, including 5 people confirmed to have died in the fire, and another person who died in 2023, more than two years before the fire.

Regarding when Wang Fuk Court can be unsealed, Chow said that the dismantling of the building's scaffolding and netting is still ongoing, and the evidence collection work takes time, so a specific time cannot yet be confirmed.
