ICAC arrested 8 people in connection with repair projects at Tai Po fire site

The ICAC arrested eight people, including the director and project manager of the consulting company responsible for the repair works of Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po.

ICAC officers took away at least four people to the office of Will Power Architects Company.

The anti-corruption watchdog earlier set up a task force to investigate whether corruption was involved in the maintenance works of Wang Fuk Court.

The ICAC rounded up a total of seven men and one woman, aged between 40 and 63, in various districts, including two directors of a consulting company and two project managers responsible for supervising the works.

The other three suspects are scaffolding project subcontractor, including a couple -- who are the owners of the subcontractor.

The remaining one arrestee is the middleman.

ICAC officers also raided 13 premises, including the offices of the engineering consultancy firm and scaffolding subcontractor, as well as the residences of the suspects with relevant construction documents and bank records seized.

Police arrested three men, aged 52 to 68, on Thursday. They remain still detained for questioning.
