Tai Po fire death toll now at 94

The Fire Services Department said the death toll in the Tai Po fire has risen to 94, including a firefighter who died in the line of duty. More than 70 people were injured, including 11 firefighters.

After daybreak, some flats were still on fire, with flames raging inside. Rescue operations are ongoing, and paramedics removed more bodies in the early morning.

The Fire Services Department said the fire has been largely extinguished. They will carry out forced-entry searches unit by unit to ensure no one is trapped, expecting to finish by 9 a.m.

They added that to prevent any rekindling, they will continue spraying water to cool down the seven buildings.
