CE inspects the Tai Po fire situation

A Level 5 fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. It burned through the night and had still not been extinguished after a full day. Chief Executive John Lee visited the scene to inspect the situation.

In the late afternoon, close to 4 p.m., John Lee arrived at the fire scene accompanied by Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan, Secretary for Security Chris Tang, and others.

He was briefed by Fire Services Department Director Andy Yeung on the firefighting and rescue operations.

He also went up to the rooftop of a nearby car park to inspect the damage at Wang Fuk Court.

It was visible that the scaffolding on the building that caught fire had been completely burned and was peeling off.

Andy Yeung also explained to John Lee the building structure and the challenges of the rescue effort.
