Tens of thousands of people gathered at Slavija Square in Belgrade on Monday evening to celebrate a major victory for Serbia's student-led movement in the country's parliamentary elections with students feeling "optimistic about the future."
The massive crowds danced and sang into the night as revelers lit flares and set off fireworks.
The historic political shift came after two years of sustained protests against the government.
Speaking amidst the celebrations, a student praised the achievement: "I am a little tired, but I am very ecstatic, very happy, and just proud of my country."
The celebrations followed a dramatic evening in which former president Aleksandar Vucic conceded defeat to the student-backed Student List party in the parliamentary election on Sunday.
