Frontline immigration staff have voiced their concerns about manpower shortage at the revamped Huanggang Port, adding that there are insufficiencies in the facility's e-channel system.
This as an individual claiming to be an immigration officer earlier issued a letter to the management level of the Huanggang Port, noting the lack of manpower and time for meals or rest.
They also noted the regular occurrence of e-channels experiencing jams, which require more personnel on site to monitor such incidents.
The Immigration Department said it is aware of this information and is inquiring about the situation.
Authorities stressed they have recruited more people prior to the opening of the port, and place an emphasis on the port personnel's work conditions as well as their work-related pressure.
