The Tourism Board's first-ever Hong Kong Halloween Month has kicked off today with spooky-themed festivities citywide over three consecutive weekends.

At Statue Square Garden in Central, Halloween characters are already out in force with a giant eyeball installation standing nearly two storeys tall among the centrepieces, drawing revellers, tourists and locals alike to snap pictures.

The Tourism Board has expanded this year's Halloween celebrations, hosting street fests, DJ parties and carnivals across three consecutive weekends in various districts, including Kai Tak, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui.

A parade and carnival is slated for this evening in nightlife hotspot Lan Kwai Fong in Central.

Free rides, too on Halloween-themed trams for those having dressed up in costumes.

US tourist JAMES: "The big eye was fascinating. It's watching all of us. I think it is amazing to see Halloween in Hong Kong. I would have never imagined this."
