White House Press Sec Zacharia leaves role after 5 days

New White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia has left her role after just five days on the job.

This comes after US President Donald Trump, who appointed her, said he has asked Zacharia, to "reconsider" her role.

Speaking to reporters on the White House South Lawn as he departed for Georgia, Trump said Zacharia has been treated "very badly" by the press.

He said he told Zacharia that she didn't have to do this job and that if he were her, he would reconsider the position.

The departure comes after Zacharia’s resume was heavily scrutinised, where reports suggest she falsified her credentials as a lawyer.

Zacharia had said in a television interview on Thursday that she had sat the bar exam after graduating from Pepperdine, but she did not pass.
