Two smaller dogs mauled to death by larger dog in Yuen Long mall

Two small dogs were suspected of being mauled to death by a larger dog in Yuen Long.

Upon further investigation, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department noted the larger dog was implanted with a microchip which could help authorities identify and contact the owner.

The government said it will decide to prosecute if there is sufficient evidence.

Online footage showed a larger brown dog biting a smaller white dog at around 3 p.m. at Yuen Long's YOHO MALL.

Passersby attempted to pull the larger canine away but were unsuccessful.

The larger dog ultimately released the smaller animal, at which point the latter was covered in blood and showed no signs of life.

A person was seen in an emotional state nearby.

The smaller dog was rushed to a veterinary clinic by its owner where it was later confirmed dead.

Just 20 minutes later, the larger dog headed towards Lolli Park where it attacked and killed another smaller dog.

Police said the former weighed 60 kilogrammes and was wearing a collar at the time.
