Trump says last chance for Iran to forge a deal

US President Donald Trump says talks with Iran will be Tehran's

last chance to forge a deal.

But Iran said it was not currently holding negotiations with the United States

and was instead carrying out discussions with Oman.

In a briefing Monday Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said

Tehran was not currently holding negotiations with the United States

and was discussing with Oman about establishing a temporary route

for safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Baghaei insisted that the Strait,

the critical waterway through which about a fifth of all traded oil

and natural gas flowed before the start of the war,

will remain closed until US violations end.

This as member of Iran's Expediency Council General Mohsen Rezaei,

said "We will by no means, allow the second corridor in the Strait of Hormuz to open.

Even if they deploy warships, we will target them.

He also warned of targeting US ships and bases if the country continued

the naval blockade on Iran saying

"There will certainly be serious dangers to the US ships and bases.

We will not sit and watch the US continue the naval blockade."

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office Monday, US President Donald Trump said

that the US were indeed holding talks with Iran right now.

"If we're not talking, when you ask me, no, we're not talking. I'll say it,

but we are talking right now. We're talking and we're talking at the request of Iran,

backed by Saudi Arabian, backed by UAE and backed by Qatar in particular,

but others also many, many countries called many.
