Today marks the Great Heat (Da Shu) solar term, and the Very Hot Weather Warning is currently in force. The Observatory reminds the public to take precautions against heatstroke and avoid prolonged outdoor activities.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression located in the waters east of the Philippines is expected to enter the northeastern part of the South China Sea later this week, though its exact distance from Hong Kong remains uncertain.

According to the HKO, this tropical depression is expected to enter the northeastern part of the South China Sea later this week and intensify gradually. Over the weekend, there is a relatively high chance it will move towards the eastern coast of Guangdong. However, its exact landfall location and distance from Hong Kong are still subject to uncertainty.

The Observatory noted that the subtropical ridge is currently covering southeastern China. Hong Kong will see mostly fine weather today, with isolated showers early on and very hot conditions during the day.

The forecast for tomorrow is mostly fine and very hot. Saturday will bring sunny intervals at first, followed by occasional squally showers, thunderstorms, and quite strong winds through Sunday. There will also be swells at sea.
