Affected by the peripheral subsiding air current of Typhoon Bavi, the weather in Hong Kong is very hot. As Bavi approaches Okinawa, Japan, and Taiwan, several airlines have delayed or cancelled multiple flights from today through Sunday.

Typhoon Bavi is traversing the waters east of Taiwan today.

Influenced by its peripheral subsiding air current, temperatures in many districts across Hong Kong exceeded 32 degrees Celsius this morning, and the very hot weather is expected to persist.

As Bavi’s impact is widespread, Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, HK Express, and Greater Bay Area Airlines have announced that multiple flights between Hong Kong and destinations like Taipei and Okinawa from today through Sunday will be delayed or cancelled. The airlines are waiving rebooking and change fees.

With demand outstripping supply, a one-way ticket from Okinawa back to Hong Kong this Saturday with one airline is costing over HK$4,000 for a base fare (excluding baggage), which is several times more expensive than usual.
