Chinese ambassador calls on US to manage differences without crossing line

Ambassador to the US, Xie Feng, stated that Washington should manage differences without crossing the line if it is resolved to become a partner with Beijing.

Some 700 people, including representatives from the US State Department and Defense Department, were present at the Spring Festival reception organised by the Chinese Embassy in Washington on Tuesday.

Ambassador Xie noted in an address the whole year's planning lies in the spring, and that it's timely for the two countries to gather consensus and embark on a new journey, unwaveringly uphold the strategic guidance of the leaders.

This is to ensure the Sino-US relations do not deviate or lose speed and moves forward, and build correct understanding without misjudgment, he added.

He urged the US side to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and the Three Joint Communiques to usher in pragmatic cooperation.

On the same day, the commerce ministry's deputy minister Li Chenggang met with Dan Sumner, CEO of Westinghouse Electric Company, in Beijing.

Li noted China's expansion of opening up is expected to present more opportunities for foreign enterprises.
