Trial begins for man charged in Ritz-Carlton hotel murder

A female yoga instructor was found dead in a Yau Ma Tei hotel room in 2022.

Her ex-boyfriend Lo Chun-ming, went on trial at the High Court this morning for the alleged murder of 23-year-old instructor Chau Wai-yin.

According to case facts, Chau was scheduled to leave for the United States on June 30, 2022, to attend a short-term yoga course.

However, her family reported her missing after losing contact with her.

The defendant later surrendered himself at a police station, stating he had killed Chau in a room at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong.

The victim sustained more than 30 knife wounds.
