Juror withdrawal may require new jury panel in Abby Choi case

In socialite Abby Choi's murder case, the court selected a 9-person jury yesterday, but a juror's latest withdrawal request might entail the need to select a new jury panel.

Entering its fifth day of trial, the court selected 7 men and 2 women to form the jury yesterday morning.

The court is considering whether to let the remaining 8 jurors continue the trial, otherwise the jury may need to be dismissed with a new jury panel selected next week.

On February 21, 2023, 28-year-old model Abby Choi was murdered in a Tai Po village.

Three defendants, including Choi's ex-husband Alex Kwong, former brother-in-law and former father-in-law, are each charged with one count of murder, and all three have pleaded not guilty.

The trio are also each charged with preventing the lawful burial of a body.

The ex-father-in-law pleaded not guilty to this charge, while the other two have pleaded guilty.
