3 suspects of deadly church attack in Jordan arrested after shootout

Jordanian security forces arrested 3 male suspects on Monday over last week's deadly attack at a Greek Orthodox Church that killed nine people and wounded more than two dozen others.

Jordan's Public Security Directorate said the trio were detained following a dawn shootout in Karak, a city south of capital Amman that is home to a minority Christian population.

All of the suspects were wounded in the operation whereas no members of the security forces were hurt.

Jordanian Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya has identified the three individuals as those have taken part in Friday's attack.

King Abdullah II urged "an iron fist" response against what he called the outlaws of Islam and anyone attempting to undermine the unity of the Jordanian people.
