The Hong Kong Observatory says it will assess the need for issuing tropical cyclone warning signals on Tuesday or Wednesday, as Tropical Cyclone Narra is expected to edge closer to the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula.
At 4pm, Narra was centred about 240 kilometres west-northwest of Haikou, Hainan province. It is forecast to be slow-moving, lingering over the vicinity of Beibu Wan Sunday and Monday.
Another Tropical Depression Gaenari near Taipei has entered within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong. But the observatory says its intensity is relatively weak and has a small circulation, meaning Gaenari is a low threat to the territory.
