Western Guangxi experiences severe flooding owing to heavy rain

Guangxi's Baise city suffered from severe floods caused by heavy rainstorms in the area.

Located in the westernmost part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a number of villages in Baise experienced torrential rainfall since last Saturday.

While weather conditions have largely improved, floodwaters in the region have yet to subside with water levels reaching a maximum of two metres in some areas.

Scores of farmland were completely submerged in water with at least 35 households consisting of 110 people having been affected.

Local authorities have deployed vessels to help evacuate villagers, with floodwaters estimated to only be fully drained in three days without the influence of heavy rain.
