The Hong Kong Palace Museum has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, marking its second cultural cooperation agreement with an Uzbek institution this year.

The Hong Kong Palace Museum says it is preparing an exhibition on the ancient Silk Road, scheduled for 2028 in Hong Kong, which will feature artefacts from China.

Under the latest agreement, the two sides will focus on exchanges in Islamic art and culture with plans over the coming years including jointly curated exhibitions, academic research and professional training programmes.

The Palace Museum will consider lending items from its collection including gold artefacts and silk textiles for exhibition at the Islamic Civilization Center.

Last month, the museum also signed an MoU with the National Museum of History of Uzbekistan.
