The HKDSE results will be released tomorrow morning.

More than 58,000 people registered for the HKDSE this year, and 97% of them sat the exam.

A record 24 candidates scored 5** across six subjects, though no candidate achieved a perfect score across all subjects this year.

This year's HKDSE found an increase of 1,000 school candidates, a 2.2% increase from last year. 700,000 answer scripts were handled by 4,700 markers, and the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority says the process went smoothly.

Prof. WEI XIANG-DONG, Secretary General of HKEAA: "Before the commencement of the examination, we conducted large-scale drills and system tests to ensure that all examination centres were fully prepared. Meanwhile, additional examination centres and invigilators were arranged to accommodate the increased number of candidates."

A total of 15,973 secondary school students met the minimum entrance requirements for local undergraduate degree programmes. They represented 36.8% of this category, a slight drop from last year.

With about 15,000 places available across the eight subsidised universities, an average of 1.06 candidates will be competing for one seat.

Among the four core subjects, 62.5 percentage point of candidates attained Level 3 or above in the Chinese language exam while 54.6 percentage point of those who sat for the English exam scored higher than Level 3.

The two language cores saw a slight dip of 2.2 percentage point and 0.5 percentage point, respectively, in the number of candidates that attained Level 3 or above.

Meanwhile, Mathematics and Citizenship and Social Development saw the most significant improvement. Close to 84 percentage point of Math exam takers got a Level 2 or above, while 94.7 percentage point of CSD exam candidates achieved an "attained".

Both subjects saw an increase of 0.2 percentage point and 1.5 percentage point respectively.

Candidates may check their results starting 9am tomorrow via SMS or their respective schools and online platforms.
