Amber rainstorm signal issued during early morning

The Observatory issued the Amber rainstorm signal early this morning, which was held for about four hours before being cancelled.

The Observatory said the weather will remain unstable over the next two days, with particularly heavy rainfall in some areas, and the total rainfall over the two days is expected to reach 200 mm.

A southerly airflow affected the coast of Guangdong, bringing heavy rain to Hong Kong.

The Observatory issued the Amber signal at 5:00 AM.

On Route 3 towards Tsim Sha Tsui, the rain was so heavy that visibility was almost zero.

Sha Tin and Tai Po recorded over 30 mm of rainfall.

Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing recorded the heaviest rainfall, nearly 70 mm.

The Amber rainstorm lasted for about four hours and was cancelled at 8:45 am.
