Donald Trump says US and Iran to sign agreement in Europe soon

President Donald Trump said Thursday the US is close to signing a deal with Iran to wind down the war, with an agreement to be signed, potentially in Europe, in the coming days.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office Thursday, Trump said the emerging deal is a "very strong memorandum of understanding" that he described as "a little conceptual."

But he insisted of Tehran, "They want to make the deal a lot more than I do."

Trump on multiple occasions over the last several weeks has claimed that the warring parties have been on a cusp of a deal without anything coming to fruition.

Asked why this time is different, Trump said: "Because they've taken a pounding."

"We were hitting them very hard for the last three days, we were gonna hit them even harder tonight. They knew that we told them exactly what we were gonna do," Trump continued.
