As part of Chief Executive John Lee’s delegation for the trip to Kazakhstan, representatives from the Hong Kong News Executives Association and the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong signed seven MOUs with local media as well as public and private organisations.
The MOUs covered areas such as international communication, media promotion, and content collaboration in film and entertainment.
Director of Information Services John Tse Chun-chung said on social media that the inclusion of Hong Kong media in the trip to Central Asia to explore business opportunities is a response to the policy direction proposed in last year's Policy Address, which aimed to assist local media in expanding their networks outside Hong Kong and telling Hong Kong’s story to the world.
Tse noted that this was his first overseas trip as Director of Information Services since taking office, and also the first time he had colleagues from the press joining him.
The News Executives Association and Newspaper Society of Hong Kong said this visit will deepen media cooperation between Hong Kong and Central Asia, and strengthen exchanges between media professional from both sides.
