As the hearing on Abby Choi's murder case continues, Choi's husband Chris Tam provided his first testimony at the High Court earlier today.

The three defendants -- Abby Choi's ex-husband Alex Kwong, his father Kwong Kau and brother Anthony Kwong, are facing charges of murder and preventing the lawful burial of a body.

This as Choi's husband Chris Tam provided his first testimony and was questioned by the prosecution at court today.

Tam said he was secondary school classmates with Alex Kwong, and was introduced to Choi by the latter.

He said he had cared for Choi's children after Kwong went missing in 2015, during which he and Choi developed feelings for each other and began dating in December the same year.

Choi became pregnant a month later and moved into the Tam family residence on Manhattan Hill in Lai Chi Kok, during which she continued to care for her two children fathered by Kwong.

When asked about the his family's financial situation, Tam said his father enjoyed success as the founder of the TamJai Yunnan Mixian restaurant chain.

He added that his father was generous with Choi -- providing her with a monthly allowance of 200,000 to 300,000 dollars, as well as up to 80 million dollars for investment purposes.

Tam noted after his marriage with Choi, the latter tried to improve the Kwong family's image in hopes of preventing her first two children from feeling compared to her new husband's family.

He further said that in the summer of 2022, Choi was involved in an argument with Alex Kwong and his mother Jenny Li at the Kadoorie Hill residence over her daughter's fever condition.

Tam said he witnessed the whole incident, during which Kwong Kau lost his temper and insulted Choi with foul language, calling her a "birthing machine".

He noted Kwong Kau attempted to strike Choi on two occasions but the latter managed to dodge his attacks.

Tam said Choi felt extremely angry about the whole incident and described the Kwong family as "becoming scarier by the day and not showing appreciation".

He revealed for the first time that Choi funded the purchase of the Kwong family's Kadoorie Hill residence.

When asked why the property was under Kwong Kau's name, Tam said he did not know if Choi understood how to properly handle investment funds.
