New bus routes to the Huanggang Port are ready for service ahead of the new border crossing's opening.

The government holds another inter-departmental meeting to make final preparations.

The new Huanggang Port is set to open Monday.

At the San Tin Public Transport Interchange, passengers can continue to use the air-conditioned waiting room, where new bus stop signs are in place.

They include three new Huanggang Port routes operated by KMB.

And Citybus route B13, the only direct route from Hong Kong Island to Huanggang.

Signs are also set up to remind the public where to board.

As for the old Huanggang Bus, it has completed its historical mission.

The route displays, "30 years together, farewell till we meet," saying a last goodbye to the public.

At the new Huanggang Port building, the Immigration Department says more than 160,000 citizens have registered to use the "co-operative inspection" self-service channels.

If registration is unsuccessful, it may be because registration for the mainland's express channel is not completed.

In that case, travellers have to use the manual counters to go north.

They can register at the mainland checkpoint on their return trip and use the self-service channels the next time they visit Huanggang.

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department reminds the public not to bring regulated food, such as raw meat, poultry and eggs, into Hong Kong from any border control point.

Chief Secretary Eric Chan posts on social media that he coordinated with more than 10 departments this morning to ensure a safe, orderly, and smooth opening. He also urges the public not to rush to the port just to take photos.
