The Centre for Health Protection says the activity level of COVID-19 has reached a one-year high and is expected to remain high over the next month or two.

Authorities says the rate of respiratory sample testing for COVID-positive cases has been less than 1 percent since the end of May.

Last week, it recorded a 9.79% drop.

Meanwhile, the per capita COVID-19 concentration monitored in sewage also rose significantly. The currently circulating variant is mainly PQ.16.1.1, which is related to the JN.1 variant. Therefore, the current COVID vaccines in Hong Kong are effective.

But as the adult vaccine expires in September and newly purchased vaccines require time to be transported, CHP urges those in need to make appointments early, while vaccines for children aged six months to eleven years have expired and will be available in the fourth quarter.
